Sometimes swallowing your pride is necessary for survival.
The picture of the eagle with its head bowed is probably not a mark of humility, but just a photo taken at the right moment. I like the message behind it though. Let's pretend the eagle is too proud to realize it's not at the top of the food chain; humans are. If the eagle doesn't realize it, it could very well be captured.
A Raisin in the Sun's Younger family had a lot of pride. Beneatha eventually swallowed her pride when Asagai made her realize she does depend on the family. Walter does, too, when he makes the decision to go ahead and move to the new house for Travis to have a better life.
